People with loved ones affected by Alzheimer’s disease now have an alternative to traditional long-term residential care. Journey at Evergreen Health & Rehab, a 26-bed, secured, Alzheimer’s care unit, provides round-the-clock care and specialized programming for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory challenges.
Nurses and aides on the unit receive extensive, specialized training and are carefully-selected to provide assistance and supervision so residents live life to the fullest. Residents participate in daily, structured, activities such as games, crafts, birthday parties, movies, church services, bible study, outdoor walks, pet visits, and gardening, as well as special functions such as family get-togethers and holiday gatherings. Residents participate in meaningful activities based on familiar interests, promoting social relationships and a sense of well-being.
The unit features unique living areas such as an enclosed walking path, activity areas, and a separate dining room and kitchen. All outside entrances are secured to ensure residents’ well-being. Every aspect of the unit’s design – from the décor to the programming, to the meals, to the quiet atmosphere – creates a soothing, home-like setting for people living with Alzheimer’s disease.
“We want to provide an experience that makes our residents feel like they did in their own homes,” says Ramona Ringstaff, Evergreen Health & Rehab Administrator. “We help preserve our residents’ precious memories while offering a long-term care solution they and their families will feel good about.”
